Reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Sales and Marketing Strategy & Operations, the VP of Sales Learning & Development is a key leadership role and will be the driving visionary and leader of the L&D team responsible for building a best in class L&D function to drive step-change improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the >700 person Sales force.
The VP of L&D will be directly responsible for optimizing and continuing to develop the L&D program across the Higher Ed, Institutional, Career and K-12 sales forces. With over 700 sales people across the country, we need to continue to ensure our Sales people are efficient and effective in their jobs through learning and becoming experts on our new digital products and continuously developing their sales competencies and leadership skills.
Lead the optimization and development of a best-in-class Sales L&D function
Develop the go forward strategy for L&D, including evolution of L&D as we drive to technology leadership.
Work with the L&D team to develop out leading edge, interactive content along the key Sales competencies
Drive the development and delivery of training programs, resources and tools that support ongoing performance management activities throughout the sales organization
Track performance of all L&D programs on an ongoing basis to ensure strategies are effective and to spot any emerging trends/opportunities. Bring new innovative learning techniques to the forefront.
Ensure learning and development programs embrace new technologies such as social and mobile capabilities, adaptive learning techniques etc.
Lead and implement recruiting processes, initial training, advance sales skills training models, and ongoing managerial training
Partner with L&D Directors within the Sales Regions to design and implement recruiting processes and onboarding training procedures of new sales professionals
Partner with HR leadership in the development and connection to the Corporate Learning strategies and programs
Lead and develop ongoing product training plans in concert with the marketing and product teams
Work closely with the Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing and Directors of Sales to identify sales talent in the organization and develop individual career development plans for those individuals
Champion operational excellence by leading the team to collaborate with CRM teams to help gather requirements and support through the development and training on strategic enhancements of our internal tracking systems
Foster a collaborative environment for your team of L&D Professionals that supports engagement, empowerment, discovery, and innovation. Commit to coaching team and development for yourself and others on the team. Establish challenging and meaningful goals that align with company priorities
Oversee the management of temporary staff pool for Go-To-Market Sales
Minimum 10 years of progressive Learning and Development and/or Sales Leadership role within innovative organization at a Technology Company
5+ years leading a high powered Sales L&D team
BA/BS degree, preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience driving talent innovation and process improvement that enable the business to achieve its objectives.
Digitally savvy and experienced with leveraging technology platforms that support talent management programs.
Highly resourceful, stellar execution skills (strategy through implementation).
An adaptive leader and change agent who is comfortable with ambiguity.
Demonstrated experience developing and using talent analytics to understand trends, establish strategic talent practices, build compelling business cases and drive sound decision-making.
Strong leadership qualities and skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff. Proven ability to lead by sharing a common vision, gaining buy-in, building trust and coaching.
Proven track record of leading and influencing; exceptional collaboration, relationship and consultative skills with demonstrated success building partnerships with internal and external contacts at all organizational levels in a matrixed environment.
A big picture, creative thinker and problem-solver with the ability to prioritize and focus in order to organize, manage and deliver tangible products and outcomes.
Availability and ability to travel overnight, potentially a few nights per month.
