Cengage Learning Temporary Product Assistant-Science in Boston, Massachusetts

Overview:

The Product Assistant provides direct, day-to-day support to the Science Product Management team. This person will provide a wide variety of services to Product Managers as a means to optimize the performance of the product group and its development effort and, thereby, help achieve its business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides general administrative support. Examples of these support services include, but are not limited to, correspondence, meeting management, travel planning, and more.

  • Assists the team in coordinating market research efforts such as surveys, reviews, focus groups, advisory panel meetings, webinars, etc.

  • Assists with preparation and distribution of author contracts, portfolio plans, product proposals, manuscript, and other documents pertaining to product management functions, assuring accuracy and working efficiently for each deliverable.

  • Prepares Check Requisitions for payment/reimbursement to reviewers, authors and others. Maintains appropriate database records and follows up as necessary. Processes invoices as needed.

  • Executes market research as needed, summarizing competitive products as necessary for several product lines.

  • Prepares and processes Purchase Orders.

  • Orders sample products.

  • Maintains filing and records management systems and other office procedures pertaining market research, product information, manuscript files, author/reviewer prospect files, and customer feedback.

  • Utilizes CRM to verify instructor information, product information, request materials, and to find users of products.

  • Pulls, collates, and analyzes data and reports from various systems.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or as judgment or necessity dictates.

  • Supports the team on creation of ISBN’s as needed.

  • Prepares all documents needed and distribute to participants for meetings across the assigned product teams including product strategy reviews, plan checks, production launches, digital road mapping, etc

Qualifications:

Basic (Required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 2016, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OneDrive

  • Excellent grammar, punctuation, spelling, and organization skills

  • Outstanding attention to detail as well as time management, and organizational skills

  • Ability to adapt work style to situation to work flexibly, effectively, efficiently while incorporating good people/communication skills in a fast-paced environment

  • Comfortable working in a team environment and also able to autonomously complete projects with limited guidance

  • Good quantitative reasoning skills

Preferred

  • Prior administrative and/or customer service experience
