Cengage Learning Sr Marketing Analyst in Boston, Massachusetts
Cengage is on a mission to make every student a confident learner and we are looking for a Senior Marketing Analyst to help achieve that goal. In this position, you will be responsible for helping transform the role of the marketing analytics team from report providers to strategic data-informed decision evangelists. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who is adept at using data to tell stories and build consensus amongst varied stakeholders, and is comfortable challenging the status quo. As a key member of the analytics team, you will not only provide insights for a range of B2B and B2C marketing activities (campaign ROI, attribution, LTV, and demand pipeline reporting) but help establish enterprise level frameworks (lean testing, data pipeline, reporting infrastructure) to scale the analytics and insights abilities of the organization as a whole. Reporting to the Director of Marketing Analytics and Insights, you will partner with Cengage Marketers to harness the power of data to improve decision making and effectiveness. You will share expertise by coaching junior Analyst(s) on the team, as well as Marketers and Analysts in other groups to improve Analytical capabilities across Cengage Marketing.
Partner with Marketing stakeholders to understand business objectives, structure key questions, and define metrics and report/dashboard structure that support business needs
Participate in the development and refinement of key performance indicators
Work with various internal technical partners to efficiently aggregate disparate data sources (Oracle, Snowflake, csv) for analysis and reporting.
Quickly synthesize and identify gaps in collection and/or integrity of data.
Conduct appropriate follow-up analyses, which may be stakeholder-directed or self-directed
Construct compelling storylines and narratives about insights and implications.
Articulate findings to internal stakeholders using strong written and verbal communication skills
Drive adoption and usage of reporting and metrics across the Marketing organization
Transfer expertise to junior members of the Analytics team and other Marketing teams
Minimum of 3 years of experience in any area of analytics, with at least 2 years’ experience in Marketing Analytics
Structured problem solving skills
Expertise with a data visualization tool, preferably Tableau or Shiny
Ability to tell a clear story with data and translate to implications
Experience with web analytics tools, Google Analytics preferred
Experience using an analytics programming language (R, Python, Scala)
Familiarity with databases, both querying and architectures
Ability to create effective PowerPoint presentations, tailored for audience
Strong statistics background, including the ability to explain statistical concepts to others
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to train new team members
Previous management consulting experience
Degree in a related field or quantitative area of study
An advanced degree, or coursework towards the completion of an advanced degree
Experience with statistical modeling, either for prediction or causation
