Cengage Learning Intern-Math in Boston, Massachusetts


The Mathematics and Statistics Product Management team at Cengage has an exciting internship opportunity. Through individual and team project-based work, the intern be given the opportunity to observe, participate in, and learn about many aspects of business, education technology, marketing, project management, and interdepartmental collaboration. The program will culminate with a capstone project, highlighting the full scope of work and projects completed.

At the end of the internship, the intern should have a working knowledge of publishing, education and technology; insight into the development and release of a product; enhanced project management skills; and an understanding of market research and strategic product development. Experience obtained can be applied to multiple other career contexts. This paid internship will be 10 weeks beginning June 12 th and ending August 18 th with a schedule of Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm. The intern will work with and support the entire team: Product, Market Development, Content Development and Marketing, learning from various roles throughout the summer. A successful intern will finish the summer with valuable experience and a varied portfolio of work that will help build a strong resumé.


  • Support preparatory efforts for mid-June offsite customer event

  • Participate and support market research, surveys and focus groups efforts

  • Assist with manuscript reviewing and manuscript preparation

  • Assist with the creation and qualification of targets lists for specific market segments

  • Create/update competitive benchmarks for print and digital projects

  • Support team administration work including the processing of reprint corrections and payments


  • Strong candidates will have a balance of some of the following skills, interests, and experience:

  • Interest in education and technology or related field

  • Previous office, educational, editorial, or research work experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2016 (PowerPoint, Word, Excel,and Outlook)

  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills

  • Resourceful, fast learner, and able to work autonomously to solve problems

  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated, and able to think critically

  • Able to project manage and juggle multiple tasks, deadlines,and people

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the followingor a relatedfield:

  • Liberal Arts/Publishing

  • STEM/Statistics

  • Business Administration/Marketing/Economics/Finance/Communications
