Cengage Learning Facility Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

Overview:

Manage the effective operation of the Boston Facilities Management Department, as well as the Facilities Management function for other remote sites as assigned. Participate in Cengage portfolio wide initiatives and lead specific initiatives as assigned. Maintain a fully operational and efficient office environment through proactive planning and communication.

This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Facilities.

Responsibilities:

Work with the Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Facilities, the building property manager and the landlord(s) so that all facility environments are properly maintained, in accordance with the Cengage Facilities Management Service Level Agreement, lease agreements and per OSHA, local, state, federal codes etc…

All properties that are within your scope of assigned responsibilities are to be maintained in a professional Facilities Management fashion in keeping with industry best practices.

Manage and Oversee building(s) security systems and access control in keeping with the North American Cengage standard.

Prepare, compile and manage department budgets, latest estimate, and long range plan.

Manage, monitor and be accountable for expenditures related to the Facilities Management Department..

Administer office supplies/stationery automated ordering program and provide assistance as required..

Manage Office general common use office equipment, including reproduction equipment, mailroom equipment, conference room supplies etc…

Provide support to senior management. Realize department/company goals through on-going communication. Meet deadlines and priorities as assigned.

Coordinate moves, adds and changes as approved by the SVP of Real Estate and Facilities. Assist with Project Management function as requested. All alterations to facilities must be made in accordance with the Cengage Office Standards document.

Participate and lead in assigned portfolio wide policies, procedures and special initiatives

Qualifications:

2 year degree or recent, relevant work experience

Strong organizational, managerial, technical and interpersonal skills

Strong Computer technical proficiency, including Microsoft Office, i.e.: Word, Power Point and Excel skills

Familiarity with budget management and basic accounting

Proven ability to effectively motivate and lead a customer-focused service team

Working knowledge of general maintenance and construction terms and technology

24 hour on-call for emergencies, including 7/24 monitoring of email and phone by way of a company provided personal portable device.

Travel, including overnight travel, to be expected for both the management of remote sites and the participation in departmental meetings and events.
